A kitten named Suki got herself into a tight spot in Camarillo when she crawled partway into an opening in a family entertainment center and couldn’t back out. The Ventura County Fire Department says Suki had only been with her new family for a few weeks when the mishap occurred.
Firefighters from Engine 50 responded to the call for an animal in distress. Once on scene, the crew removed the audio-visual equipment from the cabinet, carefully lowered the entertainment center to get better access, and worked the kitten free.
Video of the rescue shows three firefighters gathered around the cabinet, tending to the small feline as they extract her. Suki came out with no apparent injuries and was handed back to her family.
The footage, posted to TikTok earlier this week, has drawn more than 7 million views, according to the fire department.
Commenters weighed in with their own stories and reactions. One person described calling firefighters at midnight after a cat got stuck behind a water heater. Another joked, “I am now gonna go to ventura and get my head stuck in a entertainment center.” A third summed up the mood: “I 100 approve this use of my tax dollars.”
The Ventura County Fire Department thanked photographer Erin Garcia for sharing the story, saying the rescue reflected its commitment to the community it serves.
