Pop star Britney Spears used an Instagram post this week to accuse her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, and her former husband, Kevin Federline, of mistreating her during visits meant to connect her with family in Louisiana and Hawaii.
“Jamie Lynn never let me hold [niece] Ivy [sic] one time when I would visit in Louisiana during covid in two week trips,” Spears wrote, posting alongside a photo of actress Dakota Fanning making an obscene gesture in the 2003 film “Uptown Girls.”
She also accused Federline, with whom she shares sons Sean Preston, 21, and Jayden James, 20, of denying her basic access during custody exchanges at his home. “Kevin wouldn’t let me use the bathroom when I would pick my children up in their house !!!” she wrote.
“They made me feel like a slave and have all their secret things they did behind my back and all I ever did was work for my dad!!! I will find a new family!!!”
Representatives for Federline and Jamie Lynn Spears did not immediately respond to a request for comment reported by Page Six.
It is not clear what prompted the post, but it follows a separate report that Federline is facing significant debt now that Spears’ child support payments to him have ended. Federline, 48, who raised the couple’s sons in Hawaii, allegedly owes at least $117,704 to City National Bank across a credit card, a line of credit, and an overdraft line, according to documents reviewed by Page Six. He signed that agreement in late November 2024, around the same time Spears made her final child support payment.
Spears, 44, was originally ordered to pay Federline $40,000 per month. That amount dropped to $20,000 after Sean Preston turned 18 in 2023, and continued until Jayden James graduated from high school. Bank of America separately sued Federline in February over $12,186.64 it says he owes.
The rift with Jamie Lynn, 35, dates back to the conservatorship that controlled Spears’ life and finances for 13 years before ending in November 2021. Spears has said she felt abandoned by her family during that period, including by her sister, and has accused Jamie Lynn of benefiting from the family’s fame and assets while staying silent about her situation.
Tensions escalated in 2022 when Jamie Lynn promoted her memoir, “Things I Should Have Said,” describing Britney’s behavior during that time as “erratic” and “paranoid” while saying she had tried to help. Spears responded publicly by calling her sister a “selfish little brat” and sent a cease-and-desist letter through her attorneys.
