Maria Bartiromo has spoken publicly for the first time since her departure from Fox News Media took effect on September 3, 2026, after 12½ years at the network, thanking supporters online while her attorney pushed back hard against reports that she was fired.
Fox’s initial statement on the split was brief, thanking Bartiromo and wishing her well on her “next chapter” without offering a reason for her exit. Bartiromo herself did not comment when the news first broke.
Other outlets later reported that Bartiromo had been let go over allegations she leaked information to the White House. Her attorney, Bryan Freedman, disputed that account in a statement issued Friday.
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman said. “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”
Bartiromo followed with her own message on social media, thanking followers for their support and hinting that an announcement about her future plans may be coming soon.
“Thank you to all friends & followers for your amazing words. I am so grateful for the outpouring of love on SM & texts. I love you all. here’s a great shot of the 🌈 breaking through, I snapped the other day. More to come.”
During her tenure, Bartiromo hosted three number-one-rated shows across Fox’s channels and built a reputation as one of the industry’s most prolific journalists.
Well-wishes poured in from prominent figures following her post. Former X CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote, “You are missed and loved!” Former Department of Justice official Ed Martin said, “God bless, Maria. America will never fail as long as we create winners like her!” Fox News host Monica Crowley added, “Love you, Maria!”
No further details have emerged about what Bartiromo’s next move will be, but her comment that “more” is coming suggests an announcement is likely in the near future.
