Formula 1’s ninth Azerbaijan Grand Prix runs today, Sept. 26, on a Saturday rather than the series’ usual Sunday slot. Organizers moved the race up a day to avoid conflicting with Azerbaijan’s national Remembrance Day, observed Sept. 27.
The race takes place on the Baku City Circuit, a 3.730-mile, 20-turn street course. Drivers will complete 51 laps for a total race distance of 190.170 miles.
Mercedes’ George Russell claimed pole position after posting a qualifying time 0.837 seconds quicker than Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
The green flag is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET, an early start for American viewers given the time difference with Baku.
