Adam Robinson, 45, the Austin-based founder of RB2B and Retention.com, was killed alongside his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, and their two young children when a Learjet 60 crashed into a Palm Beach County neighborhood on Sunday. Their children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, also died in the crash, which killed nine people in total.
The jet had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at about 10:37 a.m. Sunday carrying two crew members and seven passengers, bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas.
According to federal investigators, the crew reported light clear ice and moderate turbulence at roughly 35,000 feet and requested clearance to climb to 37,000 feet. Less than 30 seconds after that request was approved, the crew reported the aircraft was descending and issued a mayday call. Investigators said Monday that weather is a major focus of the inquiry and that there are indications the plane began breaking apart before it hit the ground. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
Robinson led Retention.com, an Austin company that helps businesses identify website visitors for advertising and marketing purposes. He also co-founded RB2B, a related tool for identifying potential customers browsing a company’s site, and ran MoltSets, which sells business contact information such as work emails and phone numbers.
A final post on a business milestone
Days before the crash, Robinson wrote on LinkedIn that RB2B had hit $10 million in annual recurring revenue.
