Conservative commentator and PragerU co-founder Dennis Prager will make his first public appearance since a devastating 2024 accident left him paralyzed from the neck down, with an event scheduled for October 15th in Miami, Florida.
Prager announced the appearance himself on Wednesday. “I will be making my first public appearance since my accident, in Miami, on October 15th. It is a big deal, in so many ways. I hope you’ll come, and the way to get information is to go to PragerU.com/Miami. I hope to see you there,” he said.
Prager suffered his injury on November 12, 2024, after a fall left him without the use of his arms and legs. He has been largely absent from public life since then, though he has continued writing and working, according to a conversation he had with The Media Line’s Felice Friedson.
In that conversation, Prager said he can still breathe, speak and think clearly, and described those abilities as gifts he now experiences with unusual immediacy. His wife, Sue, has become his full-time caretaker since the accident.
Prager told Friedson his approach to the ordeal is rooted in ideas he has held for decades: lower expectations, cultivate gratitude, and refuse to define yourself as a victim.
“I never thought that bad things happened to the other guy. I’m the other guy.”
He also spoke about what he misses most, including hugging his wife and family and using a computer mouse or typing his own books, drawing a distinction between suffering and unhappiness.
Prager has been a prominent figure in American conservative media since the 1970s, when he wrote about Soviet Jews who were denied permission to emigrate. He later became known for his conservative commentary, his criticism of the Anti-Defamation League, and his founding of PragerU in 2009, which promotes capitalist and conservative viewpoints. He has also worked with Salem Media Group since 1999.
