Senate Democrats have introduced a new measure in the annual defense bill that would mandate the inclusion of women in the draft, sparking opposition from Republicans.

The National Defense Authorization Act, which sets the budget for the Pentagon and establishes its policies and programs, is typically a combination of House and Senate versions.

This year, Senate Democrats, in charge of both the Senate and the committee drafting the bill, have included a provision to require women to register for the draft.

Senator Roger Wicker (MS), the leading Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, has expressed his intention to remove this provision from the bill.

He stated to The Hill that he hopes it will either be removed during floor discussions or in conference.

In response, Committee Chairman Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), an Army veteran, expressed puzzlement at why this issue has become contentious when speaking to CNN.

“We have had amendments that would have required women to register and we can’t get any real traction on the other side. We are going to try to do it. It makes sense. The military now is a mixed force,” he told CNN.

Wicker said back in 2021 when he fought against the idea:

I applaud the women who volunteer to serve in the military and who sacrifice every day for our country’s freedom, but to compel their service by law is wrong. I along with millions of other Americans cannot support the idea that our daughters and granddaughters would be forced to fight in our next military conflict against their will.

Republican candidate Sam Brown, vying for a U.S. Senate position in Nevada against Democratic incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen, has strongly criticized Rosen for her support of the provision.

Brown, an Army veteran who was wounded in Afghanistan, said in a video posted on X:

Although the possibility of a draft for war is not imminent, the U.S. military, under the Biden administration, is presently involved in conflicts in Iraq and Syria, as well as on naval vessels in the Red Sea combating Houthi rebels.

Additionally, U.S. troops are aiding Israel in its conflict with Hamas and supporting Ukrainian forces in their war against Russia.

  • Let’s start with those blue haired Hamas protestor (so-called) women – they ought to make cheap cannon fodder. Give them 4 weeks of basic training and then send them to Ukraine for the front lines. Just ensure they wear body cams so they can’t turn tail and desert. (while giving us the ability to eat popcorn while we enjoy the show!)

  • Make sure to draft ALL the Trannies/Gays and those pro-Palestine protesters, all the illegal-alien-invaders and the the BLM nitwits. Here’s a good chance to clean out the prisons too. Make Biden and his ilk officers and send them out too.

    • Start by evaluating your skills, hobbies, and interests. Determine what you’re passionate about or what skills you possess that can be monetized.

  • So, only men are expendable but women are not???
Women fought for the right to be equal, so they should also be included in the draft.
