[Opinion]  While conservatives were out building our businesses, raising our kids and minding our own business, the radical left has been hard at work, laying wire and digging trenches on campuses across the nation.  For years members of the fringe left, including socialists, Marxists, Stalinists and authoritarians have been infiltrating our educational institutions.

According to the an article by Campus Reform in 2016, a panel from the American Enterprise Institute suggested that ‘Marxists outnumber conservatives in social sciences.’

In the article, Jenna Lawrence wrote ‘Panelists for the American Enterprise Institute agree that American universities are driving away much-needed conservative intellectuals because of their liberal policies.

An AEI panel discussion last Wednesday, titled “The Close-Minded Campus? The Stifling of Ideas in American Universities,” focused on the scarcity of conservative professors and students in the social sciences, with the panelists noting that conservatives are outnumbered in the field even by self-proclaimed Marxists.’

While this is not a scientific study, having talked to kids currently attending University, the theory sounds plausible, if not likely.

This article was published back in June of 2016, prior to Trump’s historic election victory.  One can only imagine how much more radicalized campuses, and those who oversee them, have become in response to Trump’s 1st term.

I do not recall conservative speakers being routinely harassed,  threatened with violence and kicked off campus for merely coming to speak on a ‘liberal’ campus in 2016 or before.  However, now a days it sure feels like Trump supporters are ‘persona non grata’ on campuses across the country.

Videos like this one have been all too common in the last few years:

Some on the radical left now appear to believe they are well enough entrenched that they can completely uncloak.  Take for instance this Marshall University Professor, Jennifer Mosher.  Ms. Mosher recently hosted a virtual lecture, during which she felt compelled to let her students know that she hoped that Trump supporters would catch Covid-19 and … die.  Yea, you read that right.

“I’ve become the type of person where I hope they all get it and die, she stated. “I’m sorry, but that’s so frustrating — just — I don’t know what else to do. You can’t argue with them, you can’t talk sense with them, um, I said to somebody yesterday I hope they all die before the election.

Jennifer Mosher, who is currently ‘suspended’  works in the Biology department, according to the Millennial Post.  The Post stated that her ‘‘reference to the recent campaign rallies held by President Trump.’

Luckily for justice, but not so much for Jennifer, a student recorded the clip, which then forced the following response from the University:

“Marshall University this morning announced it is aware of an overtly political statement made by a faculty member in a recent virtual classroom session and widely circulated on social media.

The university does not support or condone the use of any of its educational platforms to belittle people or wish harm on those who hold differing political views.

The professor was removed from the classroom yesterday and is on administrative leave, pending an investigation.

There will be no further comment on this personnel matter at this time.”

According to WOWK13, many students felt uncomfortable by Mosher’s remarks.

“You know, that’s her opinion, but in the end I don’t think it should have been said especially on an online class in front of impressionable young men and women.”, Says Christian Eddy, a Freshman. Another Freshman states, “Should she lose her job? No. But it’s hard to say what the proper appropriate repercussions should be,” according to the Millennial Post’s  Angelo Isidorou.

There was definitely an authoritarian and leftist bias when I attended Rutgers back in the early 2000’s, but I never witnessed anything like this.  One could argue that professors like this pose the greatest threat to the survival of the America we know, bar none.
