Former President Donald Trump condemned Special Counsel Jack Smith for filing a revised indictment containing the same four charges Trump had initially faced regarding alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump characterized the updated indictment as an attempt by Smith to resurrect a “dead” witch hunt and asserted that it should be dismissed due to retaining all the flaws of the original indictment.

Trump’s remarks followed the return of a revised indictment by a Washington, D.C. grand jury, which included charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

Trump wrote:

“In an effort to resurrect a ‘dead’ Witch Hunt in Washington, D.C., in an act of desperation, and in order to save face, the illegally appointed ‘Special Counsel’ Deranged Jack Smith, has brought a ridiculous new Indictment against me, which has all the problems of the old Indictment, and should be dismissed IMMEDIATELY.”

Trump noted that Smith’s “Florida Document Hoax Case” had been dismissed, and the updated superseding indictment was “an attempt to interfere with the election.”

In July, a Florida judge tossed out a documents case against Trump, ruling that Smith was not appointed constitutionally or in a lawful manner.

“This is merely an attempt to INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION, and distract the American People from the catastrophes Kamala Harris has inflicted on our Nation, like the Border Invasion, Migrant Crime, Rampant Inflation, the threat of World War III, and more,” Trump added.

The four charges are equivalent to the charges Smith had previously leveled against Trump.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity in July, certain elements of the indictment were removed and modified.

“The superseding indictment, which was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case, reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings and remand instructions in Trump v. United States,” Smith wrote in a court document.

The legal proceedings have been further complicated by a Florida judge’s dismissal of a related case against Trump, which raises questions about the validity of Smith’s appointment as Special Counsel.

Trump’s assertion that this latest indictment is an attempt to interfere with the election adds yet another layer of complexity.

  • Smith is a liar & con artist. He officially was never hired & has no authority to be doing all of this garbage! All of this will be dismissed when Trump is elected president as Smith will also be fired along with Garland & Wray.

  • Trump needs to have somebody to take this sorry a=s gay scumbag Jack Smith out back to a woodshed and taught a good lesson.
