Moscow has claimed that the United Kingdom is now “directly involved” in the ongoing war in Ukraine after reports emerged that British-made Storm Shadow long-range missiles were used by Kyiv to strike targets within Russian territory. The allegation marks a sharp escalation in rhetoric as tensions between nuclear-armed powers continue to rise.

Russian Ambassador to Britain, Andrei Kelin, accused the UK of crossing a critical line by providing Ukraine with weaponry that has been used to strike inside Russia. Speaking to Sky News, Kelin stated, “Absolutely, Britain and the UK are now directly involved in this war, because this firing cannot happen without NATO staff, British staff as well.”

The ambassador further alleged that the decision to enable such strikes was a coordinated effort by the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, accusing them of “deliberately escalating” the conflict. He warned that this could lead to a “collision between the nuclear powers.”

The allegations come after Kyiv reportedly deployed Storm Shadow missiles provided by Britain to target sites in Russia’s Kursk region, an area that has seen sporadic cross-border activity during Ukraine’s counteroffensive efforts. The strikes reportedly coincided with the U.S. decision to allow Ukraine to use American-made ATACMS long-range ballistic missiles within Russian territory.

Storm Shadows are highly advanced long-range missiles, capable of precision strikes. When Britain first supplied the weapons to Ukraine, assurances were reportedly given that they would only be used against targets within Ukrainian borders. Kelin accused London of “deliberately cheating” Moscow by allowing the missiles to be used elsewhere.

Downing Street dismissed the accusations, with a spokesperson saying, “We will not be deterred or distracted by commentary from Vladimir Putin or the Russian ambassador.” The UK government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression, a stance it has maintained since the beginning of the conflict.

In a sharp response to these developments, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced changes to the country’s nuclear doctrine. Moscow now claims that “any attack” on Russian territory facilitated by another nuclear-armed nation—whether using nuclear or conventional weapons—would justify a nuclear response.

The updated doctrine significantly heightens the stakes in the conflict, as it broadens the scenarios under which Russia could consider using its nuclear arsenal.

Adding to the tension, Russia unveiled a new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), dubbed Oreshnik. The weapon, which reportedly travels at speeds of Mach 10 (7,600 miles or 12,200 kilometers per hour), was used to strike Ukrainian targets in the city of Dnipro earlier this week.

Putin justified the use of the missile as a response to Ukraine’s deployment of British Storm Shadows and U.S.-supplied ATACMS. He described the conflict as having acquired “elements of a global character.”

Russian state media claimed the Oreshnik missile is virtually impossible to intercept due to its hypersonic capabilities. Putin boasted, “There are no means of counteracting Oreshnik-type complexes in the world.” Ukrainian officials countered that the missile used in the Dnipro strike reached speeds of Mach 11, underscoring the difficulty of defending against such advanced weaponry.

The use of British and American long-range missiles by Ukraine represents a significant escalation in the conflict. It has prompted warnings from analysts and officials about the potential for the war to spiral into a broader confrontation involving NATO and Russia.

Western powers, including the UK, have consistently maintained that their military aid to Ukraine is defensive in nature and aimed at enabling Kyiv to defend its sovereignty. However, Moscow has portrayed these actions as direct involvement in the war, further inflaming already volatile tensions.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin’s updated nuclear doctrine has raised alarms globally, with experts warning that miscalculations could lead to catastrophic consequences. The rhetoric surrounding the deployment of hypersonic missiles, coupled with accusations of “deliberate escalation,” signals a dangerous phase in the conflict.

As the war in Ukraine enters a critical period, the lines between direct and indirect involvement by NATO countries grow increasingly blurred. While Western nations aim to strike a balance between supporting Ukraine and avoiding a direct confrontation with Russia, Moscow’s warnings suggest that these efforts are being interpreted as provocations.

The international community is now left grappling with the question of how far the West should go in arming Ukraine without triggering a larger conflict. With advanced weapons systems and updated nuclear doctrines entering the fray, the stakes have never been higher.

For now, diplomatic efforts appear overshadowed by the escalating rhetoric and actions on both sides, leaving little room for de-escalation in what is becoming an increasingly global crisis.

  • Why does Putin NOT go after Obama, Nuland and other CIA/State Department pukes that inflamed the peaceful Ukrainian protests into a war? He has my permission!
    …………….

Obama, his CIA and “She Witch” Ambassador Nuland instigated the Ukrainian revolution on the heels of Ukrainian protests with their corrupt President #1, Viktor Yanukovych’s sudden decision not to sign the European Union–Ukraine Association Agreement, instead choosing closer ties to Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union. He fled to Russia with the bulk of the looted Ukraine Treasury. That’s why Ukraine is broke. President #3, Zelensky had nothing to do with events BEFORE he was elected 21 April 2019. Zelensky received 73 percent of the vote to corrupt President #2, Poroshenko’s 25 percent. Yes, The west spoon fed arms in a giddy proxy war rush hoping Ukraine could weaken Russia with not so indirect NATO help to the last drop of Ukrainian blood. Obama sent blankets and Trump sent lethal arms, hoping to make Russia tire and leave the Donbass and Crimea BEFORE Russia invaded. Instead Russia invaded after idiot VP Harris said this! A social media account for Vice President Kamala Harris stated Tuesday in a now-deleted tweet that the United States is supporting Ukraine “in defense of the NATO alliance,” which the Ukraine is not a part of. ”When I was in Poland, I met with U.S. and Polish service members, thanking them for standing with our NATO allies for freedom, peace, and security,” a tweet from the @KamalaHarris account stated. “The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people in defense of the NATO alliance.”
