Former President Donald Trump’s ex-advisor, Peter Navarro, was released from federal prison on Wednesday after completing a four-month sentence for defying a congressional subpoena.
He declined to testify and provide documents to Congress, citing his belief in Trump’s executive privilege and the potential violation of that privilege by cooperating with the subpoena.
Navarro spent his sentence at a low-security correctional facility in Miami, residing in a dormitory designated for older inmates.
However, some may question whether he should have been prosecuted at all.
Navarro sought to overturn his conviction and the judge’s decision to enforce the sentence before the appeal was decided, but ultimately he still had to serve the time.
Even when the Supreme Court refused to hear his emergency appeal, allowing the sentence to stand, it could have been due to concerns about appearing too political or showing favor towards Trump, or simply because it didn’t consider the case significant enough to warrant intervention.
In the event that the appeals court overturns his conviction, there is no way for Navarro to reclaim the four months of his life that were lost.
Following his release, Navarro traveled to Milwaukee in order to address attendees on Wednesday night.

He told the audience, “I went to prison, so you won’t have to.”
“If we don’t control our government, the government will control us,” he added.
Navarro and Bannon, both Trump staffers, have been sentenced to jail for defying congressional subpoenas. Bannon, like Navarro, expressed pride in his sentence as he surrendered in Danbury, Connecticut.
He asserted executive privilege as a defense but was unsuccessful. These cases mark the first time any Trump staffers have been charged with contempt for defying a congressional subpoena and subsequently imprisoned.
In contrast, several Biden staffers, including Hunter Biden, and other Democrats who engaged in similar actions were not criminally charged.

Why have the Communist Democrats always go after, arrest, charge and imprison Republicans, while Communist Democrats and Rinos committe heinous crimes against the Constitution and not get arrested, charged and imprisoned for their crimes against the United States and the citizens. My biggest problem with Trump is that he claims to want to drain the swap, but refuses to actually take down the left. He has stated that if he wins he will not retaliate, WHY? The more the left gets away with, the bolder they become. I’m not so sure about his choice for VP either – a Trump hating moderate who supposedly woke up and now thinks Trump walks on water!
