As the presidential election draws closer, Vice President Kamala Harris has unveiled a proposal to create an “opportunity agenda” aimed at Black men. Her plan includes several initiatives designed to “boost economic opportunities” for Black male entrepreneurs, including $20,000 forgivable loans. While some have praised these efforts, critics argue that the plan is unconstitutional and racially divisive.
Harris’ proposal comes in response to concerns about her lackluster support among male voters, particularly Black men. With just weeks left before Election Day, the Harris campaign is ramping up efforts to strengthen her appeal in this demographic. Former President Barack Obama has also made headlines recently for his attempts to rally Black male voters behind Harris, while a new campaign ad has sparked debate about its effectiveness in doing so.
One of the key pillars of Harris’ plan is the creation of one million fully forgivable loans, up to $20,000 each, specifically for Black entrepreneurs. The loans are designed to provide capital for those who may have been historically underserved by traditional financial institutions. These loans would be forgiven under certain conditions, such as creating jobs or contributing to local community development.
Supporters of this initiative argue that it could provide a much-needed boost to Black-owned businesses, many of which have faced economic challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. They see this as an opportunity to close the wealth gap and promote economic equity for Black Americans.
However, critics of the plan argue that it unfairly targets one racial group and excludes others, raising constitutional concerns about equal treatment. Some believe that any race-based policy initiatives, even those intended to address historical inequities, are divisive and may not hold up under legal scrutiny.
Additional Proposals for Black Men
In addition to the loan program, Harris’ “opportunity agenda” includes several other key components aimed at improving opportunities for Black men. These initiatives include:
- Education and Teacher Training: Harris plans to launch programs that will support Black men in becoming teachers, addressing the underrepresentation of Black male educators in the workforce.
- Cryptocurrency Protections: A unique aspect of her plan is to ensure that Black men can safely invest in cryptocurrency. Harris has proposed measures to protect these investments, ensuring that individuals feel confident their money is secure in the volatile digital currency market.
- Health Initiatives: Harris also wants to create a national health initiative that would focus on diseases that disproportionately affect Black men, such as heart disease and prostate cancer. The initiative would aim to improve healthcare access and outcomes for Black men across the country.
- Marijuana Legalization: Another headline-making proposal is the push to legalize recreational marijuana. Harris argues that this policy would open up opportunities for Black Americans to succeed in the cannabis industry, an area where they have been historically underrepresented.
A Divisive Proposal?
Harris’ plan has sparked significant debate. Supporters argue that it directly addresses the long-standing economic disparities that Black Americans, especially Black men, face in areas like business ownership and access to capital. They see the forgivable loan program and other initiatives as a step toward rectifying historical wrongs and providing targeted economic assistance where it’s needed most.
On the other hand, critics claim that the proposal may be seen as racially biased, potentially excluding non-Black entrepreneurs who also face financial struggles. Some have questioned the constitutionality of race-based initiatives like these, fearing that they could lead to further divisions rather than unity. The focus on Black men, in particular, has raised eyebrows among those who argue that economic policies should benefit all Americans equally, regardless of race.
With the election approaching, this proposal will likely be a hot-button issue. Whether it helps Harris gain traction with Black male voters or fuels further controversy remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: the debate over targeted racial policies in the U.S. isn’t going away anytime soon.
It’s safe to say that the announcement was far from popular when it was shared on social media, with many calling it racist.
Many also questioned what the reaction would be if Donald Trump sought to implement a similar policy for White men.
Make her a gift to ISIS, they need someone torture
I am sure she has a profession that would gain more acceptance. And then again maybe they might think they were being conned. Willy Brown might be able to give them some insight on that from his experience with her.
This stupid a=s braindead street wh=re b=t=ch
A President should be looking out for all Americans and not just one race. Harris is the racist or exploiting racism for political benefit.
Her approval numbers have been in the toilet in the black male demographic, so this is obviously a “BRIBE” just like Biden/Harris have done with illegal aliens pouring in through the Southern Border. And so this action should put Kama-chameleon in the toilet in terms of gaining any voter approval by anyone that has a clue or functioning brain for that matter; I can only imagine a brain dead imbecile would vote for this brain dead piece of burnt out “LYING” toast!
She is so wicked and delusional she actually thinks America is now a “banana republic” and she is the coming “Dictator!”
