Almost two weeks following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, the FBI has verified that the former president was indeed hit by a bullet in the ear, aiming to resolve conflicting reports regarding the cause of his injuries during a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania.

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the agency said in a statement Friday evening.

President Trump responded:

“I assume that’s the best apology that we’ll get from Director Wray, but it is fully accepted!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump’s supporters also chimed in. “There are just no words to describe how disappointed I am in my country. Every day I am more ashamed. I can’t believe I live in a country where the FBI director pushed a conspiracy theory that President Trump wasn’t hit with a bullet. We are surrounded by demons,” Laura Loomer added.

Several law enforcement officials, including FBI Director Wray, had expressed skepticism about whether the former president had been struck by a bullet in the assault that resulted in injuries to his ear.

“As I said, I think with respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear,” Wray testified before Congress earlier this week. Newsweek has contacted the FBI via email.

Donald Trump shooting

In an interview with The New York Post in the days after the shooting, Trump said that a bullet had hit him, taking out a chunk of his ear.

“The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle,” he said. “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead.”

Trump’s physician, Ronny Jackson, also confirmed that the former president was hit by a bullet, writing in a statement: “There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet.”

“FBI Director [Christopher] Wray should have never played into Democrats lies and conspiracy theories suggesting it was a piece of glass or fragment that struck President Trump,” GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X, posting Jackson’s statement.

After Wray testified to Congress, Trump angrily criticized the FBI director, maintaining that a bullet had indeed hit his ear.

“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn’t sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet. It was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a ‘bullet wound to the ear,’ and that is what it was.” he wrote.

“No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!”

The FBI is currently looking to interview Trump as part of its investigation into the assassination attempt, aiming to obtain a victim statement, which is a routine procedure for crime victims, according to a U.S. official.

The agency has emphasized that it has consistently regarded the shooting as an attempted assassination of the former president.

“Since the day of the attack, the FBI has been consistent and clear that the shooting was an attempted assassination of former President Trump which resulted in his injury, as well as the death of a heroic father and the injuries of several other victims,” the agency said in its initial statement released in response to questions about Wray’s testimony on Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

In his testimony, Wray disclosed fresh information about the assault on Trump carried out by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, such as his browsing of details about the John F. Kennedy shooting on his laptop and flying a drone in the vicinity of the rally two hours before the former president’s appearance.

Crooks was fatally shot by Secret Service agents at the scene following the attack.

Following the incident, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday.

During her testimony before Congress, she characterized the assassination attempt against Trump as “the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades.”

  • There have been no “good employees” in either the FBI nor the DoJ since AT LEAST Whitey Bulger.
Execute every one of them for their treason. Then put their heads on pikes around the Beltway.

  • Chris Way is as crooked and is knee deep in corruption and has been since the day he took office. HE CYA in any investigation. I love how he tried to indicate it could have been something other than a bullet. We should have them to a trial run on him and see how he comes out of it. SCUM

  • I haven’t ever seen or heard of a free flying bullet, hitting no obstruction, to self destruct into shrapnel. What am I missing? Some new bullet type bought at the local? Or, a higher level of Stupid! It is The FBI. Answer is likely the latter.

  • FBI fails….. when they prosecute hero Richard Jewell….”F.B.I. Suspects ‘Hero’ Guard May Have Planted Bomb.’…..Three months after the damning headline claiming Jewell may have planted the bomb in Atlanta, his name was cleared, but his reputation was never the same, despite being the actual hero of the Olympic bombings.”

    FBI fails…….Hunter lap top

FBI fails……PRESIDENT TRUMP hit by ” piece of glass or fragment”

FBI fails……”According to the most recent survey by Gallup on the topic, public trust in the FBI has fallen in recent years.
Where 57 percent of U.S. adults said that the FBI was doing either an “excellent” or a “good” job in 2019, this fell to 44 percent in 2021. This change mostly comes down to a drop in trust from the Republican side, which saw a fall from 46 percent to 26 percent over the two years.”

  • What a pissant apology. They still said it might have been fragments from the shooter’s rifle in their “correction.” Idiots! Are they seriously trying to claim that the bullet might have just fragmented in the air without hitting anything first? These idiots should all be fired from the FBI. We can’t have idiots running the FBI.

  • I actually read, written by a Lib’Turd that to dramatise a pre-plan that Trump had an explosive device behind hi ear…… how about that then…..?

    • All these staged theories are absolutely nuts. Who would allow someone to take a shot at his ear or plant and explosive device ti,ed with the sound of a gunshot????

Oh! A minor detail these staged theorists ignore. A man was killled by a real bullet which had to be fired from a real gun!!!!Duh!!!! OR that plus two men in the hospital would have had to be staged as welll!!!!!! Duh again!!!!

  • What do you expect from the simps in the fbi, like the cia and rest of the alphabet agencies it is loaded with gays, dykes, trannies, traitors, cowards and pencil necks.

  • Wray is a disgrace to the FBI and our country he’s destroying our confidence in government corruption he’s so far over his head he can’t hide anymore. The truth is going to eat him alive and his reputation is in the gutter. His days are numbered bet he gets indicted before long you can’t cover up all the corruption that this administration has done. It’s going to hit the fan really soon sit back and watch. DOJ is next

  • Wray is next to worthless. All he had to do was look at the still frame picture taken by the press of the BULLET going past Trumps head while he was at the podium. Leaves one with serious doubts about the ability and integrity of the FBI.
