Donald Trump Jr. Floats The Idea of Tucker Carlson for VP

Donald Trump Jr.’s suggestion of Tucker Carlson as a potential running mate for his father in 2024 is an interesting one. While Carlson certainly has the credentials and media presence to be considered, it is unclear whether or not he would be interested in such a role. Whether or not President Trump would accept Carlson as his running mate remains to be seen.

“I’m also confident, one way to make sure this election is as entertaining as possible would be to have Tucker Carlson as our V.P. nominee,” Don Trump Jr. said on his show Triggered.

“Now obviously, Tucker’s a friend, I think he’s brilliant, he’s got incredible ideas, and I think he’d be great. I would endorse that ticket right now. A lot has to happen. I can’t put words into my father’s mouth but if you needed any more reasons, if you need any more reasons, to have Tucker Carlson as V.P., I have a couple of words for you. Imagine the Tucker Carlson-Kamala Harris vice presidential debate,” Don Trump Jr. said.

It is highly unlikely that Tucker Carlson would be interested in being Donald Trump’s running mate, considering his past criticism of the former president. Indeed, when he was still on Fox News, Tucker actively worked to prevent Trump from going to war against Iran at an important juncture during his presidency.

The vice presidency is traditionally a role that entails mainly ceremonial duties, such as breaking ties in the Senate. President Trump has previously encountered issues with his Vice President, Mike Pence, after he chose to certify the results of the 2020 election instead of using the “Pence Card” option that Trump had highlighted.

Recently, Tucker Carlson went viral when he attended an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event with President Trump, as well as Kid Rock and UFC president Dana White.

Weeks ago, Tucker Carlson, the host of Tucker on X, achieved trending status when it was announced that President Donald Trump might choose him as his running mate for the 2024 election. At a recent Republican debate, presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy proposed that Carlson should have been moderating alongside Elon Musk and Joe Rogan.

President Donald Trump praised Tucker Carlson for his successful “counter-programming” during the first presidential debate, remarking that it had reached over 300 million people. During an appearance on Clay Travis and Buck Sexton’s radio show, President Trump also did not rule out considering Tucker Carlson for the job of vice president.

Carlson previously hosted a show on all three major cable news networks before he was fired from Fox News’ top-rated program Tucker Carlson Tonight for being too righteous. His current show on X has become the highest-rated show of his career.

“I like Tucker a lot! I guess I would. I think I’d say I would, because he’s got great common sense. You know, when they say that you guys are conservative, or I’m conservative, it’s not that we’re conservative, it’s that we have common sense,” President Trump said.
