There is a saying that is attributed to Voltaire that says, “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”
That’s what we’re seeing across the country today and especially now following the Afghanistan disaster.
After standing up for truth and calling out the Biden administration on their disastrous Afghanistan debacle, Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller was promptly fired from his position and expects to receive jail time should the Marine Corps decide to court-martial him.
Scheller is facing these threats for the “crime” of criticizing Joe Biden and his administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal in a Facebook post.
Specifically, Scheller lashed out at military leadership and the Biden admin for the deadly explosions in Kabul that resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members and the decision to remove U.S. personnel from Bagram Airbase.
“People are upset because their senior leaders let them down, and none of them are raising their hands and accepting accountability or saying, ‘We messed this up,’” Scheller said in the video. “I’m not saying we’ve got to be in Afghanistan forever, but I am saying: Did any of you throw your rank on the table and say, ‘Hey, it’s a bad idea to evacuate Bagram Airfield, a strategic airbase, before we evacuate everyone’? Did anyone do that? And when you didn’t think to do that, did anyone raise their hands and say, ‘We completely messed this up’?”
“Potentially all those people did die in vain if we don’t have senior leaders that own up and raise their hand and say, ‘We did not do this well, in the end,’” he continued. “Without that, we just keep repeating the same mistakes. I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away to say to my senior leaders: I demand accountability.”
Despite constitutional provisions guaranteeing freedom of speech, under new guidance, military personnel aren’t able to criticize the Afghanistan withdrawal.
The irony and double standard illustrated in this story borderlines on comedic until we realize that Scheller may be jailed for his criticism. Where is the accountability for Joe Biden, who bears culpability for the disastrous exit from Afghanistan, the hundreds of deaths of Americans and Afghans alike, the handing over of billions of dollars worth of military equipment to terrorists, and all the other disastrous policy he has supported?
Apparently, there is no accountability if you’re Joe Biden.
