For more than two years, Hunter Biden and his father have consistently denied the veracity of the “laptop from hell”. They have dismissed it as a fraud, a hack or “Russian disinformation.” However, on Wednesday evening, Hunter’s lawyers made an unexpected U-turn and declared that yes, the laptop computer in question is indeed his. But now they’re claiming that the information from it was published without his permission. In other words, they’re making Hunter Biden out to be the victim now.
The sudden nature of this reversal has prompted many to speculate about what could be behind it. Investigations from the Republicans in Congress are believed to be a primary factor. With this development looming large, it’s become increasingly untenable for them to persist in pretending the laptop isn’t real. Furthermore, due to the stricter policies instituted by Elon Musk at Twitter, stories such as these can no longer be easily silenced through censorship, even The New York Times had reluctantly conceded that Hunter’s emails were genuine.
Given this scenario then, Hunter Biden and his legal team appear to have adopted a new tactic: casting him as the victim. They claim he has been wronged by having his privacy invaded; despite being well aware of his struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues in recent years, they now paint him as an individual who is being unfairly targeted by Congress simply because of his relationship with his dad.
Of course, there is absolutely no truth to this narrative. Hunter Biden is not a victim. Reality paints him out to be something quite different. He is a highly privileged son who leveraged off his family name and connections for personal gain. Millions of dollars have flowed into his hands due largely to these influence, much of which he then squandered on drugs and prostitutes. His laptop wasn’t “stolen” either, rather he had dropped it off at a computer repair shop while offering up its password but never made any effort to pick it up again (presumably due to how impaired he had become).
In light of all this evidence we have to remember that Hunter Biden is no victim here.
