This is a story of courage that many of us will never get the opportunity to experience. Just thinking about it gives me the chills…in a good way.

What happened in Uvalde, Texas, is the worst catastrophe we’ve seen in a long time. It’s both sad and sickening. There is so much more I could write about what happened on top of what I’ve already mentioned, but I believe there is something worth discussing about that day.

As you are probably aware, it was US Border Patrol agents that killed the shooter that day, not cops. However, the events leading up to that may be the subject of a movie.

The dedication, the love, and the determination of one man that day is what it means to be a father, a husband, and a hero.

Jacob Albarado, a Latino Border Patrol agent, had just sat down for a haircut when his wife, a Robb Elementary School teacher, emailed him and told him what was going on and asked for his help.

“There’s an active shooter,” she said. “Help. I love you.”

Albarado’s barber gave him a shotgun, according to the New York Times, and Albarado then hurried out of the barbershop and sped to the school.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that out of the roughly 150 Border Patrol agents stationed in the area, approximately 80 agents responded to the incident.

“Initially, the Bortac agents couldn’t get into the classroom because of a steel door and cinder block construction,” the report said. “Meanwhile, the gunman … shot at them through the door and walls.”

“The Bortac agents got a master key from the school principal that allowed them to enter the room,” the report added. “One Bortac agent’s shield was hit by rounds upon entering and a second agent was wounded by shrapnel. A third killed the suspect.”

Bill Melugin of Fox News tweeted a photo of the Border Patrol agent’s cap that he was wearing when he killed the assailant.

“This is the hat the elite, veteran BORTAC Border Patrol agent was wearing when he breached the classroom with a tactical team and engaged/killed the Uvalde school shooter, a CBP source tells me,” Melugin tweeted. “Graze wound to head. Many BP agents in Uvalde have kids at the school.”

This man is a hero and the epitome of what it means to be a father and a husband. Without regard for his own life, he rushed to the scene to save his wife. This man deserves a medal for his bravery.

  • Thank God for the immediate and brave intervention of Border Patrol agent, Jacob Albarado. Though it would have been interesting to have captured the shooter alive, I’m glad to know that this particular creep is dead. IMHO Ramos’ parents should have to answer for releasing such a vicious, malicious, malcontent bully on the public, and funding his evil activities.

    • Makes you wonder if these parents had their heads in the sand and were only interested in themselves. Where did this kid get thousands of $’s to buy that much ammo and some very expensive guns?

    • @Kitty Corbett

I agree with you about the actions of this heroic, as well as the other U.S. Border Patrol agents, who all responded to this gut-wrenching call.
I also agree with what you’ve stated about the shooter’s parents.

Yes, the shooter will, forever more,
be taking a dirt nap. Which is the way that it should always be. Otherwise, the powers that may be, will see to it that a sick nutcase like this, somehow gets back onto the streets for more of the same. And, it’ll always be at the taxpayer’s expense whether they are locked up or released.
Plant them and it’s a one time tax expense instead of them being a burden upon the system for the rest of their unworthy and miserable lives.

  • Great job Sir fantastic job. Thank God you and your fellow border agents survived!
P.S. don’t expect FJBiden to praise you guy’s anytime soon. Obama won’t let him.
Again God bless you all and stay safe.

  • I don’t believe you have the story correct. Jacob Albarado is not the BORTAC agent that shot Ramos. He did rescue students & teachers from the school though after entering on his own accord.

  • Wait for it. They will soon hit the hero with a capital murder charge. Just how this corrupt justice system works.

  • This man is a hero and the epitome of what it means to be a father and a husband. Without regard for his own life, he rushed to the scene to save his wife. This man deserves a medal for his bravery…….Something LE should take notice. THAT IS THEIR JOB

  • The picture I see of this school look like it’s only one story. That means all the classrooms should have windows. Why was everybody inside and nobody checking out the windows to see if they could see in that classroom from the outside and shoot that createan from the outside through the windows.
The whole scenario is screwed up.

    • Was there a vantage point from outside for a SWAT sniper? Could the miscreant have seen anyone looking in?

As you imply, the police messed up big time it seems.

  • What a wonderful souvenir that ballcap is. Jacob Albarado can wow relatives and friends forever with that hat. Kudos Jacob.

    • That’s not jacobs hat. That hat is the border patrol agents hat who shot the killer. Jacob did not shoot the killer

  • The second leading purchasing state in guns did not have the internal fortitude to use them on the bad guys. Spineless…
