Philippine Police Confirm FBI Investigation Into Thomas Markle Over Alleged Child Porn Cache

Philippine National Police officials said Tuesday that a video found in connection with the alleged child pornography cache tied to Thomas Markle Sr. depicted minors — both boys and girls — engaged in sexual activity. Authorities said the children shown were Asian and Caucasian, with no Filipino minors identified in the footage. Police did not say whether Markle Sr. appeared in the video.

The update came two weeks after reports first surfaced detailing the alleged material connected to Meghan Markle’s estranged father.

Pmgen Wilson Casueta, acting director of the Philippine National Police, said the investigation is “going in the right direction.”

“If there is sufficient evidence and the evidence warrants, we will file a case,” Casueta said.

Casueta also confirmed that American authorities have opened their own inquiry. “FBI and US authorities are doing their own investigations,” he said, adding that U.S. agencies have partnered with Filipino law enforcement. He indicated that British authorities have not launched a parallel investigation, stating, “Only the FBI and US authorities have reached [out] to our Women’s and Children’s Protection Center.”

Casueta said he could not comment on separate reports from last week that Mexican authorities had found alleged child pornography in a storage unit in Mexico.

Those earlier reports stemmed from a Daily Mail investigation, which said a reporter uncovered books about pedophilia, magazines depicting the sexual abuse of children, sexually explicit 35mm negatives, seven hard drives, and more than 50 videotapes mixed in with family mementos in the unit. The Daily Mail said it reported Markle Sr. to the FBI after making the discovery.

Markle Sr. is currently in the United States and has reportedly been moved into a Florida care facility for dementia patients, according to the Sun.

Meghan Markle has called the allegations against her father “troubling and disturbing,” and said they are part of why she severed contact with him in order to protect her two children, Archie and Lilibet.
