Collin Gosselin, one of the six sextuplets from the former TLC series “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” is publicly asking his siblings for reconciliation after nearly ten years of estrangement, timed to the release of his new memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.”
Now 22, Collin told Page Six in an exclusive interview that he hasn’t told his siblings he loved them since a family reunion when he was around 14 or 15. “It’s horrible how much triangulation occurred in our home and that we were, we were pitted against each other,” he said. “I mean, how do you do that to siblings that were all born together on the same day? It’s horrible.”
Collin is one of six sextuplets — Aaden, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Leah and himself — born to Jon and Kate Gosselin, who also have older twin daughters, Mady and Cara. The family became a household name through “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” which chronicled their day-to-day life raising eight children.
Collin has said he hasn’t spoken to several of his siblings since 2016. Still, he insisted his feelings for them haven’t changed. “I love them very much, and I want them to know that what was done to us as children is not normal,” he said. “I was very broken; I was very hurt. But I’d fight that battle every day again to make a point that the things that we were put through was not healthy.”
He added, “And I’m sorry that I had to put myself out there, but I’m not sorry, but I had to be the one to be the voice against that.”
Representatives for Kate Gosselin and TLC did not respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
In his memoir, Collin wrote directly to his siblings: “…l sincerely love all my siblings. If any of them ever read this, I hope they know that.”
“To Maddy, Cara, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel: No matter what’s happened or what was said, no matter how things look from the outside—I love you. I always have and always will.”
This is not the first time Collin has publicly reached out. In August 2025, he posted a message on TikTok over a childhood photo of himself with his seven siblings, writing, “Born to be a team, us against the world…” A second image showed him driving alone, captioned, “Forced to do it alone, and wonder every day what our lives could’ve looked like.” He added: “Forced apart, pitted against each other. All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids?”
Family background
Kate and Jon Gosselin married in June 1999. Kate filed for divorce in June 2009, and the divorce was finalized that December.
Collin has been estranged from his mother since 2016, when she sent him to live in a behavioral health institution at age 11 over alleged behavioral issues. Jon obtained legal and physical custody of Collin in 2018 after securing his release from the facility. Jon also gained custody of Hannah after she left her mother’s home; the remaining sextuplets stayed with Kate along with Mady and Cara.
Collin’s memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” was released Tuesday.
