The 18-year-old arrested in connection with a shooting that wounded two teenagers outside an Eden Prairie High School homecoming football game has been released from custody after posting bail, according to Hennepin County jail records reviewed by Fox News Digital.
Police say Adam Abdihakeem Adam opened fire outside the stadium during the Oct. 2 homecoming game, striking a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. Both were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. The shooting prompted an immediate evacuation of the stadium, and the homecoming dance scheduled for the following day was canceled.
Investigators have said they believe the shooting is connected to a feud involving rival Somali gangs.
Adam, of St. Louis Park, was arrested on Oct. 8 at the intersection of Highway 55 and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis. He was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause for second-degree assault.
Jail records show he posted bond and was released Saturday evening — roughly 48 hours after his arrest. According to the Rapid Response 47 account associated with President Donald Trump, a judge granted Adam no-condition bail.
The release drew criticism from Minnesota House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, who represents the state’s 6th Congressional District. In a social media post, Emmer wrote:
“Another radical left-wing judge lets the Eden Prairie shooter, Adam Abdihakeem Adam, out of jail on a no-condition bail. When will the madness stop? How can we let someone who is believed to be tied with Somali gangs back out onto the street? This is another example of why our state is losing respect across the country. The soft on crime Democrats need to go, and we need to take our state back in November.”
No further court dates or conditions of release have been reported.
