Michigan Twin Pastors Preach Hunting as Biblical Stewardship

Twin brothers Chad and James Hampton, pastors at separate churches in Michigan, are framing hunting as a matter of religious duty rather than recreation, pointing to Genesis 1:26 as the foundation of their outdoor ministry.

The brothers, both graduates of Rochester Christian University, founded Huntin’ the Truth Ministries and recently spoke with Fox News about the biblical basis for their work.

“We know that God’s given us that food to manage and also consume so that we can be what He’s created us to be,” Chad Hampton said. “We’re managing God’s creation that He gave to us.”

The passage the brothers cite, Genesis 1:26, reads in the NIV: “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'”

A Ministry Built Around Guided Hunts

Huntin’ the Truth Ministries describes its mission as building and restoring relationships with Jesus Christ through hunting and the outdoors. According to the organization’s website, the ministry has grown into a national platform offering guided hunts for physically challenged men, men generally, and youths who lack a father figure or anyone else to take them hunting.

The ministry also says it has helped other organizations and ministries establish their own hunting and outdoor programs.

Both Hampton brothers continue to pastor churches in Michigan while running the ministry, which positions hunting not as a hobby but as a vehicle for faith, mentorship and stewardship of what the brothers describe as God-given resources.
