Head coach John Harbaugh ordered black T-shirts printed with the slogan “1-0” and distributed to the Giants organization late last week, a simple reminder to take the season one game at a time. The shirts debuted at Wednesday’s practice in East Rutherford, and Harbaugh, general manager Joe Schoen, and several other coaching and front-office staffers wore them again Thursday.

“1-0,” Harbaugh said. “That’s the answer to your question right there. That’s the point. That’s what we’re doing.”

Defensive tackle D.J. Reader, an 11-year veteran who has accumulated a wide collection of team slogan shirts over his career, said the gimmick still has value even if it sounds familiar.

“I always like a new T-shirt,” Reader said. “They don’t matter necessarily, but it’s always a good reminder when you see it. You know what it means, we’ve talked about it, and it’s a good reminder of checking you back to reality: ‘Let’s go 1-0 this week.'”

The shirt isn’t tied to tracking the team’s actual record without quarterback Jaxson Dart — there won’t be an updated “2-0” or “1-1” version printed next week regardless of outcome.

“One week at a time, one day at a time, one play at a time,” running back Cam Skattebo said. “You have to continue to win in the moment. There are 14 games left, but we play one game this week. We’re not thinking about two games ahead, three games ahead. The ‘1-0’ is going 1-0 each week.”

Reader, a former baseball pitcher, said the win-loss framing resonates with him from his playing days.

“I like them,” Reader said. “I’ve always thought of a next-pitch mentality. I can’t tell you who we play three weeks from now. Let’s just try to win that game and then try to win the next game that comes up. Everyone knows the start date of the regular season and end of the regular season, but it’s what in between that matters.”

Holland Honored for Hot Start

Safety Jevon Holland was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month after recording an interception in each of the Giants’ three games so far, including a victory-clinching pick against the Titans. He also added two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery over that stretch.

The recognition marks a sharp turnaround for Holland, who struggled to meet expectations in the first year of his three-year, $45 million free agent deal, finishing with just one takeaway last season. Over his four years with the Dolphins, Holland posted five sacks, five interceptions, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries total.

Injury Report

Left tackle Andrew Thomas (groin) did not practice for the second straight day — a change from last week, when he sat out one day before returning to play. Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (knee), cornerback Deonte Banks (calf) and safety Tyler Nubin (calf) were all limited in practice.
