Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark powered through a bout of halftime vomiting to post 27 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds in a 99-88 win over the Las Vegas Aces, forcing a decisive Game 3 in the teams’ best-of-three postseason series.
“To be honest, I threw up everything in my stomach at halftime,” Clark said after the game. “I was just out there so tired. It wasn’t because I didn’t feel good or anything. I just was that gassed.”
Clark returned to the court after the illness and closed out the game with the stat line that carried Indiana to victory, keeping the Fever’s season alive.
Much of the postgame attention centered instead on an incident involving Aces star A’ja Wilson and a fan, which drew criticism of the broadcast coverage. But Clark’s performance, delivered under physical duress, stood as the defining moment of the game for Indiana.
This is not the first time Clark has vomited during a game this season. In June, she was sick at halftime of a matchup against the Atlanta Dream, a game the Fever also went on to win.
With the series now tied, the Fever travel to Las Vegas for Game 3 on Thursday night, needing one more win to advance.
