Howard Stern and his wife Beth were spotted leaving the set of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in Brooklyn on Tuesday, marking one of the couple’s rare joint public appearances since a former employee’s lawsuit against them made headlines earlier this year.
Kimmel is taping a special week of shows from Brooklyn through Friday. Photos obtained by Page Six show Howard, 72, dressed in all black with his signature sunglasses, while Beth, 54, wore a yellow top with a maroon skirt and matching heels. Stern paused to sign autographs and greet fans before leaving the venue.
During his solo sit-down on the show, Howard confirmed Beth was in the audience. “I don’t know how she puts up with me,” he said, as she waved and blew him a kiss. He added that she “was happy to get out of the house away from me.”
The couple, married since 2008, is approaching their 18th wedding anniversary. Howard told Kimmel his plans included flowers and “romance,” joking, “I will make love to my wife. It will take all of five minutes, honey. Don’t worry. It will be over very fast.” He turned serious afterward, saying the couple “will celebrate our love.”
The Legal Fight Behind the Scenes
The appearance comes months after the Sterns were sued in April by their former executive assistant, Leslie Kuhn, who accused them of fostering a hostile work environment. According to court documents, Kuhn described the strain of managing the couple’s Hamptons property and assisting with Beth’s at-home cat rescue and fostering work.
Kuhn also alleged that Howard’s production company, One Twelve, presented her with a nondisclosure agreement she says she never signed. She claimed both her termination and the disputed NDA were “manufactured by the Defendants in general and Beth Stern in particular.”
Howard pushed back hard at the time, calling the suit a “shakedown” and a “transparent sham” in court filings. His attorney, Ilene Farkas, said Howard was “not going to play this out in public.”
By July, the Sterns had secured a legal win when a judge rejected Kuhn’s claim that Howard’s production company had forged NDAs bearing her name.
The couple’s public reemergence also follows a turbulent summer for Howard professionally. He laid off roughly a dozen staffers from his SiriusXM program and gave up Channel 101, which was handed over to Andy Cohen’s “Radio Andy.” On the Sept. 14 season premiere of “The Howard Stern Show,” he joked that he had “never had a summer where I was treated so well in the press,” adding, “I can’t tell you how many different people have called me a scumbag.”
