A co-founder of Moms for Liberty is urging parents to look more closely at the political messaging embedded in content from Ms. Rachel, the children’s YouTube star whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, arguing that families tuning in for songs and early-learning lessons are also being exposed to her views on immigration, gender identity and the Israel-Gaza war.
“She’s using her leadership role for political activism,” Tina Descovich, co-founder of the parental rights group Moms for Liberty, told Fox News Digital.
Ms. Rachel has built an audience of more than 21 million YouTube followers, along with millions more on Instagram and TikTok, largely on the strength of toddler-focused educational programming. But she has grown increasingly vocal on political matters in recent months.
A Visit to Newark’s Delaney Hall
In June, Ms. Rachel traveled to Newark, New Jersey, to visit Delaney Hall, an immigration detention facility, where she said she spent time with families she described as having been “terrorized” by immigration enforcement.
“I’m still processing being outside Delaney Hall Immigration Detention Center in NJ yesterday. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the children and families whose loved ones are inside. I can’t say enough about how this cruelty is harming and traumatizing precious children who should get to just be kids. I know if you came and played cars and drew with chalk with them and laughed and sang and saw their tears you wouldn’t want what is happening to happen.”
Descovich argues that parents who bring up Ms. Rachel expecting neutral, age-appropriate content are instead getting a public figure with strong opinions on contested political issues.
“She reaches 21 million viewers a year on YouTube alone, and then her social media channels have, like Instagram, I think has five million, TikTok, 10 million, and she seems to think she can divide her personal views from her influence over toddlers, but parents are tuning in to her messaging because they trust her with their toddlers,” Descovich said.
The Antisemitism Controversy
In December, Ms. Rachel was named a finalist for StopAntisemitism’s 2025 “Antisemite of the Year” designation, with the group alleging she promoted Hamas-aligned messaging in her posts about Gaza. Other Jewish organizations have since come to her defense, backing her advocacy on behalf of Palestinian children.
Descovich cited the nomination directly in making her case for a disclosure requirement.
“I think her shows should all start with a warning label that says, ‘Warning, this woman has been nominated to be the antisemite of the Year in the United States,’ and they should know that before they put her in front of their toddlers,” Descovich said.
Gender, Race and Immigration Content
Descovich pointed to a range of other posts as evidence of a broader pattern. On Instagram, Ms. Rachel shared a graphic from the account @readlikearockstarteaching stating, “Your toddler notices race. And talking about it isn’t what teaches them racism,” captioning it “Brilliant info from @readlikearockstarteaching – please follow!”
A Dec. 4 post from Ms. Rachel read: “Just so you know, you are welcome in Ms Rachel’s classroom & I love you. People who are trans, gay, nonbinary, people who are Somali, people who are any religion – Muslim, Jewish, Christian or not religious, people who use food stamps, Democrats, Republicans, people who are undocumented, people who hate me.”
“Parents turn to her to teach their children potentially to be kind and be a good citizen and love your neighbor,” Descovich said. “It would be great if she would teach kids the beginnings of learning to read and concepts so that they can be ready for kindergarten, but infiltrating gender ideology with children as young as two and three and four, that’s not something parents are expecting or want to put in front of their kids at such a young age.”
What Descovich Wants
Descovich stopped short of calling for Ms. Rachel to be removed from platforms, framing her concern instead around disclosure and parental choice.
“What’s most important here is that parents are informed on Ms. Rachel’s political ideologies because they are starting to seep into all of the work she’s doing with their children. So, parents need to be informed, they ultimately get to choose and direct the upbringing of their children, but they absolutely should not be manipulated or, you know, sideswiped by thinking they’re putting their child in front of Mr. Rogers when they’re really getting a political radical like Ms. Rachel.”
