Elizabeth Holmes Set for Transfer to Texas Halfway House as Commutation Bid Sits With Trump Administration

Convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is scheduled to move into a halfway house in Del Valle, Texas, on Aug. 23, 2027, as she continues serving her federal fraud sentence and awaits a decision on a commutation petition filed with the Trump administration.

Holmes, 42, is currently held at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan, a minimum-security women’s facility that also houses Ghislaine Maxwell. Her next stop will be the Austin Transitional Center, a privately operated 460-bed “community corrections center,” where she will be supervised by the U.S. Probation office. Residential reentry centers, commonly called halfway houses, are meant to help inmates transition back into the community through job placement, employment counseling and financial management assistance, according to the Bureau of Prisons.

The Bureau of Prisons would not confirm the transfer. “The Bureau of Prisons does not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual, including release plans,” a spokesperson told The Post, adding that under BOP policy, designation details cannot be released until after an inmate arrives at the new facility.

A Cryptic Message From Behind Bars

The news of her pending move comes as Holmes marked another milestone from prison. In a social media post Sunday, she wrote that she has now spent “1,216 endless days and nights” incarcerated, and for the first time signed off using her initials, “EAH” — Elizabeth Anne Holmes.

“I was silenced for a long time. And then imprisoned. I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life.”

Holmes said her husband, Billy Evans, 33, has helped manage her account while she has been locked up. “Billy is one of the people carrying that responsibility for me. He fights fiercely for me and our family. I love him beyond space and time,” she wrote, adding that going forward, posts written in her own words would be marked with her initials.

She also thanked supporters who have written to her and cited a Bible verse: “Opening letters from my supporters at the end of unforgiving days constantly ignites the fire in my heart. The truth will set you free. John 8:32. EAH.” Alongside the message, she posted a photo taken before she reported to prison, showing her resting her head on Evans’ shoulder while wearing a Milwaukee Brewers cap. It is not clear when the photo was taken.

The Underlying Case

Holmes was convicted in 2022 on four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy for defrauding investors in her blood-testing startup, Theranos. Prosecutors said she falsely claimed between 2010 and 2015 that the company’s technology could run a full range of medical tests from a single finger-prick blood sample. She was sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison and ordered to pay $452 million in restitution. She did not plead guilty and has continued to maintain her innocence, telling People magazine in February 2025, “I refused to plead guilty to crimes I did not commit.”

With time reduced from her original sentence, Holmes is eligible for release on Dec. 30, 2031. She filed a petition last year seeking a commutation from the Trump administration, which remains pending.

Her final weeks of freedom before reporting to prison are the subject of a new film, “You Can See Everything,” directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim and set for release Oct. 16. The movie was filmed in secret and premiered earlier this month at the Telluride Film Festival. In its trailer, Holmes tells Fielder, “I’m not deceiving you.”
