Seahawks Bring 2-0 Start and Turnover-Heavy Defense to Washington

The Seattle Seahawks travel to Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, to face the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET. Seattle enters at 2-0 after beating Arizona in Week 2, while Washington is 0-2 following a September 20 loss to Dallas that also cost the team its starting quarterback.

Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow in that loss to Dallas, and Washington has named Mariota the Week 3 starter in his place. Mariota played in relief against Dallas, completing 11 of 16 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, a 109.1 passer rating on those snaps.

Washington has relied heavily on the run through two games, averaging 157 rushing yards per game, which could help smooth the transition to a new starting quarterback. That ground attack will be tested against a Seattle defense that has allowed just 17 points all season and already has 4 interceptions, tied for the league lead, along with 5 sacks and 9 passes defended.

Washington’s passing offense has produced 185 yards per game through two weeks. Terry McLaurin remains the top target in that attack despite managing only 4 catches for 64 yards so far this season.

On the other side, Seattle quarterback Drew Lock has been sharp: 422 yards, 4 touchdowns and zero interceptions through two games, with a 72.9 percent completion rate and a 127.3 passer rating. He’ll face a Washington defense that has allowed 61 points and has yet to record an interception this season, though the Commanders do have 5 sacks.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been the standout receiver in this matchup, with 17 catches for 277 yards and 4 touchdowns through two games, including a 9-catch, 155-yard, three-touchdown performance against Arizona. Washington’s defense, which allows 30.5 points per game and has no interceptions this season, will need to find an answer for him.
