Actress Sofia Vergara turned 54 on July 10 and celebrated with a trip to Italy, sharing photos and videos of the festivities on Instagram, including a picture posted the next day of herself in a red two-piece swimsuit aboard a yacht.
“So happy for all the love from u guys yesterday! It was the best bday ever!!! ❤️ and thank u Italy for all my 300 cakes! 54 is a good number!!!!” Vergara wrote in the caption.
The “Modern Family” star documented several days of celebrations. On one outing she wore an off-the-shoulder coral maxi dress and oval sunglasses; in another photo she stood beside a ceramic address plaque marked with the number 54 while wearing a floral-print dress. She was joined during the trip by her 34-year-old son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, and her longtime business partner, Luis Balaguer.
On Saturday evening, family and friends gathered for a birthday dinner where Vergara wore a strapless red dress with a gold and diamond necklace. Photos showed her posing with Manolo, who held a tambourine bearing an image of his mother’s face, and seated in front of a cake decorated with her image, cherries and sparklers. In a video she shared, restaurant staff danced toward her table with the cake while other diners clapped along.
Vergara has spoken publicly in recent years about aging in the public eye. “When you reach a certain age, you know life more,” she told E! News in 2024. “That’s one of the fun things about getting older: You realize what’s important in life and what is not.”
She has also addressed the pressures of aging as a public figure. “I’m in a business where we’re always being looked at,” she said. “And now the cameras are high definition. It’s different to age as a normal woman in a normal job, but to age in front of a camera is completely different. And all of our insecurities become even bigger once you get older.”
Vergara has previously said she uses Botox and is open to plastic surgery in the future. “I want to feel good and not because what people are thinking of me,” she said. “It’s for me. I want to feel fresh — not exhausted. You have to accept that you’re going to be different, but also I’m never afraid to do the best that I can. So, if there’s things I can do without going crazy, why not?”
